Education

I received my Bachelors of Arts in sociology from Alma college. I then went on to complete a Masters of Arts in sociology at Central Michigan University. From there, I completed my Masters in social work at Michigan State University.

Clinical Experience

In addition to having over six years of experience as a psychotherapist in a private practice setting, I also have worked previously as an outpatient therapist in a Community Mental Health (CMH) setting and experience working as a social worker in a skilled rehab facility and on a college campus.

Therapeutic Practice/Style

My approach to therapy is a gentle and compassionate, strength-based, person-centered focus on your goals. I focus heavily on ensuring we are understanding what your goals are while taking steps to get you from point A to point B. We will build upon what you know already works for you and enhance those skills to add positive elements to your outlook on life. We will work together to identify thoughts that are automatic and harmful, and how to replace those with more realistic and helpful thoughts. I want to ensure you have the tools to tackle your challenges outside of our sessions and that you feel confident to use them-- the ultimate goal!

Areas of Specialty

My specialty areas include: anxiety and/or depression at every stage in life, trauma, teens and young adults (especially those who display symptoms associated with ADHD and impulse control), OCD, anger issues, family and relational challenges, life transitions and adjustment disorders/challenges, perinatal mental health and couples therapy.
