Education

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Central Michigan University in 2008, with minors in Youth Studies and Sociology. I received my Master’s in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University in 2013, with a concentration in mental health and chemical dependency.

Clinical Experience

I have worked in a variety of settings helping people reach their goals with their mental wellness. I started as a Family Reunification worker, working with children and families involved in the foster care system. I have worked as a case manager for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and for individuals with mental health diagnoses. I have worked as a supervisor and therapist for a community mental health provider, assisting individuals with their mental health needs and co-occurring disorders. I eventually shifted my focus to private practice and have worked providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and couples.

Therapeutic Practice/Style

My goal as a therapist is to help others learn about and understand their issues in a safe and open environment. Seeking out help can be scary and stressful, and my hope is to make people feel comfortable addressing their concerns without feeling judged. Therapy is a unique and personal experience, and I use various interventions to match each person’s needs and goals. I use a mixture of therapeutic techniques to help individuals identify the issues they would like to focus on and to develop goals. I believe goal setting and providing tools to cope are imperative to success in therapy. I love people- I love to hear their stories, help them learn about themselves, and watch them transform their lives.

Areas of Specialty

I specialize in working with children and teens, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, mood disorders, co-occurring disorders, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (including postpartum depression/anxiety, birth trauma, fertility challenges, miscarriage, infant loss, etc.)and life transitions. I have certifications in Mental Health First Aid and Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), and I am perinatal mental health trained.
